15mm Genestealer Patriarch and M-ATV vehicle

This weekend has been kind to me. I managed to paint another vehicle for the cult (Matchbox Oshkosh Defense M-ATV) and I solved the problem of not having a proper Genestealer Patriarch. Modern day plastic stealers are way too big and don't really fit to the GS familiars made of lead. I searched my bitz and came up with a Rogue Trader era metal Genestealer body and a pair of old plastic GS Hybrid arms. He is still too big, of course, but I like the idea of him being a real monster capable of crushing tanks and walkers. We're nearly done here, I think!

  1. Brilliant work on the cult! The old Genestealer looks perfect amongst the 15mm figures and makes a really effective centrepiece to the force and I'm sorely tempted to steal the idea for my own 15mm 40k forces!

  3. I think he works really well. He looks like a real monster. I kind of wish GW's patriarchs were this big!

    1. Thanks, Toby! You're right... in 40k 2nd Edition he wasn't a real match for the other big guys. Chaos daemons, Tyrants and Dreads were much more potent and the patriarch miniature could have been bigger too.

    2. I don't play 40k but aren't GS's kind of auxiliary troops for Tyranids? So don't they just get those really big Nids as their heavy hitters?

This project of yours amazes me. You did it so well :O

    3. Don't make me blush!

Yes, they are. But in a Cult, they are much more powerful in comparison. A cultist is like an Imperial Guard soldier. Genestealers are even capable of killing Space Marine Terminators, so IG Soldiers are no match for them. If I add a Carnifex or something bigger, things are going out of control quite quickly. :)

    1. There is no such thing like "enough alien miniatures". ;)

  5. Another great addition - old school sculpts match 15mm well, so that's a great choice. I managed to get some familiars off ebay, so now I'll steal this idea too! Think I'll use GZG mercs as my cultists though. Maybe.

  7. Damn! This is truly magnificent. I welcome another brother of the four armed emperor. I never knew just how well an old ‘stealer would fit as a 15mm patriarch. Shiny.

    1. Thanks a lot. I was convinced it wouldn't work, but then I was surprised in a very positive way.

  8. Necroposting here. For what were you using these? I dint find any 15mm warhammer40k rules or something 15mm that had Cults in its armies..

    1. Grim Dark Future, could also play them with No Limits, Planet 28 or any generic sci fi ruleset. The world is full of great wargame rules not made by Games Workshop. :)
