GRIM DARK FUTURE - 6mm batrep

 I finally played Grim Dark Future - and it is a blast! Here's a little batrep/review hybrid.

Chaos Armor!

Chaos Black Legion forces for Epic Armageddon or Squad Hammer and Grim Dark Future in 6mm. For now I can field Predators, Dreads, Land Raiders and a Defiler. Much more to come!

 

 

Goodbye Firestorm Armada - Aquans

These ships are for sale on Ebay. I really liked them and they were fun to paint. But they are just too big and I don't play Firestorm anyway. For Full Thrust and alike I will use smaller ships from GZG and Brigade Models. I thought my Aquan fleet deserved to be shown here before they leave my place.

 

 

Space Elves and Ambulls

 Seems like I took a month off... 

Today I present the start of my 15mm Eldar forces. I don't plan to paint a whole army, since I do skirmishes most of the time anyway. The Guardians are from Blue Moon's Alien Universalists range, the Wraithlord-like thing is an old 40k wardrone from the Rogue Trader Era. The Ambull has also been painted months ago and I thought he would make a nice addition to this post. Always loved the model, was lucky to get one for a reasonable price. 

 

 

Let's add some characters

I've been knee-deep in 6mm for weeks now. From time to time I threw in a single 15mm to get a liile change of pace. This way I will build up a collection of fantasy characters for Hero Quest, Talisman, Runebound and RPGs in general. The first five are finished now: The Ranger, the Wizch, the Wizard, the Dwarf and the Warrior. If I want to complete a 15mm set for Talisman there's only 45 more to paint! ;)

The witch is from Blue Moon Miniatures, the rest is Ral Partha's Demonworld line.

All god's creatures green and small

I added some rot to my Epic 40k chaos forces. Might be played in E:A or Grim Dark Future. The small guys are Cyclopean Daemons from Microworld Games. The bigger GW Plague Bearers will be used as daemonic champions in 6mm and as normal daemons in 15mm. I like my miniatures doiung double duty.

One page to rule them all...

I did it. At least I hope so.

For years I felt that constant itch of needing a rule system that would let me use my Epic 40 miniatures on a smaller level meaning that I basically play 40k with tiny minis and multibased squads. I tried Gruntz, Alien Squad Leader, Squad Hammer and Future War Commander which are all great games, but maybe not made for this special purpose.

Recently I stumbled upon One Page Rule's Grim Dark Future which seems to let me do just like I wanted. Motivated by my find I revamped some of my Imperial Guard models adding some black and proper highlighting. Now I am starting to do the same with my Chaos and Ork armies to have opponents for my first tests.

I can field tanks, APCs, artillery, infantry, elite troops, command units with heroes and even more stuff. Painting this in 28mm would have taken ages, I guess. The units receive a stat card with hit point boxes that can be ticked off. Every man counts!

Did I mention that Grim Dark Future can be played solo? Seems like that system was made for me... If not, my eternal quest is just going to continue.
