Back to Metals - Here's 15mm Star Saga

I was lucky enough to get an affordable Star Saga lot with the Core Set and two expansion. Mantic's boardgame is basically a HeroQuest in Spaaaaace and - as always - I am too lazy to paint up the 28mm miniatures that came with it. So I went to the basement and searched through my GZG and Alternative Armies goodies and came up with these miniatures. A little bit of work on the cards had to be done and now I have game materials that match the minis I intend to use. Big fun! :)

Blood Bowl, errr... Blitz Bowl in god's chosen scale!

Yes, that means 15mm, guys!

You: "But why did you do that, Skully?"

Me: "Because I could."

You: "But you allready own all of that in 28mm scale!"

Me: "Everybody makes mistakes."

Blitz Bowl is allready a small scale game compared to Blood Bowl, since you only need 6-8 miniatures per team. But in 15mm I can paint up to two teams per WEEK. It is highly transportable, I can take it with me during holidays. The miniatures (mostly 3D-printed, with additions of Splintered Light and Alternative Armies) are magentized and I can carry up to 3 teams in a metallic cookie box.

Today I'd like to show my pitch and my Undead team. I have nearly all other teams bought, printed or planned. Give me 5 weeks and you shall see them painted. ;)

Number One Hundred and a Happy New Year!

Unbelievable. This is my 100th post since I started this blog in 2018. I am quite happy that I ran it for that long and that you guys kept being interested in it. In the beginning I wasn't sure if 15mm would really be the great solution that I had in mind. But yes, I still love the scale and I can count the 28mm dudes I painted since 2018 with the fingers of just one hand. I don't miss anything.

For my 100th post I chose Chaos again. This time I'd like to show the Star Marauders and Zoni Warriors by Darkest Star Miniatures, which were a lot of fun to paint and make great chaotic Space Pirates and Cultists. For my 15mm games in the 40k universe I'm aiming for a more rogue-traderish setting that allows me to mix things like I want. The bigger dude is an old Knight Paladin from Epic 40k, but I think he makes a nice chainsaw-wielding Dreadnought type. The miniatures also mix well with Alternative Armies' Nox power armor warriors (from the Ion Age section).

A big "Thank You" to all my followers for your comments an ongoing support. I draw a great motivation out of your thoughts and suggestions. Even though I don't know you in person, I enjoy our little conversations a lot. Stay safe, stay healthy, may 2021 a year with much less worries for all of you.

Cheers,

Skully

Is this some sort of peasant joke?

These Demonworld chaps are sold as "peasant militia" by Ral Partha Europe... but one of them screams "thief" and another "monk", I think. They are great sculpts however and I enjoyed painting them a lot.

Back from holidays and curious about what you guys did in my absence... I'll have a look now! :)

15mm Empire: We have an ogre - and we will use him!

I always thought I suck at sculpting... Maybe I have improved my skills or it's again 15mm scale that is way more forgiving mistakes. I desperately wanted an ogre for my Empire warband. After some research it became clear that there is none on the market and a conversion would be necessary. I realized that I picked up six of the excellent ogre miniatures from Alternative Armies. I sacrificed a Demonworld chap for the feather and looked through my 28mm bitz finding an old shield fitting size-wise. The rest had to be done with green stuff. I am more than pleased with the final result and will certainly do another one in the near future. An ogre rarely comes alone and I have to other poses left to convert.

15mm Empire Warband

After spending the past weeks to shrink my postapoc stuff to 15mm, I wanted to change for fantasy again. I am continuing to sell my 28mm stuff and redo everything in the perfect scale. I had a nice Warhammer Fantasy Empire warband I painted up in the Talabheim colour scheme. For the 15mm version I swapped the white for black. The colours do not fit any specific region of the Old World, but I like them better now. Using Essex and Demonworld miniatures, I spent a week to paint up 13 miniatures. I guess I needed more than two months to achieve the same in 28mm back in the day. I will only show five per post as usual starting with my Captain, some foot soldiers and my first archer. I will use them as imperial troops in skirmishes or as town guard when I'm roaming the Forgotten Realms. The buildings are all from Alternative Armies.

Dystopian Diaries - Part 7: RobCo loves you.

Welcome to Dystopia. Every monday there will be a new entry showing my progress on all things postapoc.

In the Fallout universe, robots had been constructed for many purposes, and many examples survived long enough to be a factor post-War. Fallout Wiki.

I think I broke the record doing these last week. 12 miniatures painted in two days. I know the colour scheme is simple, but yet... try this in 28 millimeter! Models are from the scene.uk and Alternative Armies. Robo-Brain, Protectron, Mr. Gutsy and Securitron are ready to roam the wastes.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Dystopian Diaries - Part 6: Law and Order

Welcome to Dystopia. Every monday there will be a new entry showing my progress on all things postapoc.

Since I saw the Peacekeepers faction in the This is not a Test rulebook, I wanted to have some miniatures I could use as some kind of  Road Wardens. With the recent expanse of Alternative Armies' SFA line, I finally found the right figures for this purpose. When I saw the new all female squad and the guys with the riot shields, I fell in love at once. They certainly do the job and would also be great Adeptus Arbites for Necromunda. The first ten are done, but as usual I only show five at a time.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

EDIT: People kept asking about a size comparison picture. I added one here (from left to right: Khurasan, GZG, Rebel Minis).

Purple is my colour of choice!

Some news from the Cult. Still purple, still mean, a little bit more old school!
