Dystopian Diaries - Part 1: Chem Troopers

Ok. The theme sets itself easily these days. Welcome to Dystopia. Every monday there will be a new entry showing my progress on all things potapoc. I start with these chaps originally coming from Armies Armies (Russian Empire) and now being distributed by Brigade Models as Polish forces. I really like their masks and overall appearance, they fit perfectly into any Fallout-like setting.
The paint scheme was shamelessly stolen from Spacejacker who made a painting tutorial for them in 2015. You can see it here. They painted in a breeze, all five took me two short evening sessions.

The green buildings are freshly painted too. It's Brigade Models Research Base.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

All hell breaks loose

Back to topic - this is a blog for 15mm miniatures.

The end is nigh... idiot presidents and prime ministers are in charge, the virus spreads and my favourite football club faces bankruptcy - ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE!
So I thought it would be a good occasion to open the gates of hell and let out some old Epic 40k Fleshhounds along with 15mm Daemons by Onslaught Miniatures. I think they mix quite nicely.

I hope you are all well and together with the ones you love. May you all stay healthy and get out of this mess without loosing somebody.

Blood Bowl - Orcs

I'm working on new 15mm stuff, but progress isn't made as quick as it used to be. So I had a look in my archieves for older stuff and I stumbled on my Blood Bowl files. I still love the game and they are going to be the only 28mm I'm going to keep in my collection (Though there are some really tempting 15mm versions from Zombiesmith). Here's my Orcs on one of my scratch built styro-foam boards. They are older paintjobs, but I still like them.

First game of Polyversal

So I had my first (solo-)game of Polyversal using 500 points in total. I played Orks against Imperial Guard and organized forces in a single battlegroup per side. I played three turns until I ran out of time and nominated the imperial forces to be the winner. The ork Lungbursta squadron dropped it's unit effectiveness below D4 and left the battlefield. The Boyz lost two combatants, the Dreadnoughts suffered a casualty and dropped to D4, while the Stompas dropped to D6 effectiveness and lost a targeting system. Both the Dreads and Stompas units still had stress counters on them. The Imperial Guard only lost a Leman Russ and a Sentinel, but the Chimeras were in a critical state (D4 effectiveness).
The game took me 90 minutes with taking photos and reading rules from time to time. What I can say is that Polyversal plays smoothly and after some time determing hits and damage is quite easy. The game is not about killing units, it's about degrading their effectiveness during battle, quite like routing/breaking detachments in Epic. The game was actually won by Imperial Guard Conscripts putting loads of stress counters on the Ork tanks without even scratching them!

So far I really like the system, but I will have to find a human opponent to get a proper impression. I can allready say that I won't use this for mass battles... I had difficulties remembering how many tanks allready shot - this is because you are resolving to hit and damage at once with only one roll. It might sound convenient but you cannot f. e. roll all tanks firing together and roll all damage together afterwards. You have to do one unit after the other and then you do the same for the other weapon systems the unit might carry. I think it is more time consuming than in Epic Armageddon.

Here are some impressions from the battle:

Oh, my Orkness... Polyversal is out!!!

Another post betraying the perfect scale. I started to rebase all my Epic 40k miniatures some time ago and added lots of new units, because I cannot wait to try out Polyversal. It's been 8 years since I first heard about this ruleset and I backed it in 2016. Only some four years later I have access to the rules and the Arsenal tile design tool, which I have allready used quite a lot (check out those hexagonal stat cards below). My first impression is that the long wait was well worth it!
I also want to use the miniatures for Laserstorm, Squad Hammer, Alien Squad Leader and -of course-  Epic Armageddon itself. When I started Epic some 12 years ago, the Orks were my first army. I still love them.

Man all stations... it's the Russians!

As I have your permission, here's my first non 15mm post. I am selling all my Firestorm Armada stuff at the moment and reinvest the money in tinier fleets from GZG and Brigade Models. They take much less room of storage and paint in breeze. I managed the first ten ships in one week and even the Battleship took only two hours. So here we are:

4x Molnya Class Frigates
3x Stoykiy Class Destroyers
2x Isakov Class Light Cruisers
1x Zhukov Class Battleship

I will use them for Full Thrust and maybe also for Colonial Battlefleet from Steel Dreadnought Games, if I manage to get a cheap hex mat.

Some bugs and an important question

Whoa, that was close. Nearly a whole month without a new post! I could say that my children keep me me from painting and posting (which is partly true), but I have to confess something to you guys... I have been painting... something not 15mm! Right now I'm looking at a tiny starship fleet from Brigade models and I'm going to add a battleship tonight. Some weeks ago I had a lot of Epic 40k stuff on my table and I finished a lot of new models I plan to use with Polyversal.

Now for my question... Would it be treason to show these things here? I started this blog strictly 15mm, but now I feel like posting stuff even tinier... as long as I don't go back to 28mm, I could justify something off-topic once in a while. What do you think? ;)

And now the proof that I did work on some 15mm guys as well. Here are my Khurasan Gun Crabs!

Purple is my colour of choice!

Some news from the Cult. Still purple, still mean, a little bit more old school!
